How to read and write Bangla text on mobile phones

For viewing Bangla Text

1. Make sure you have Opera mini installed on your phone.

2. Write ‘opera:config’ on Opera mini’s address bar and press ‘Go’. You’ll be redirected to opera mini’s user agent setting page.

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the page. You’ll see an option named ‘use bitmap for complex scripts’. This option is disabled by default. Enable the feature pressing ‘Yes’ from the drop-down menu of this option. Press ‘Save’.

Now you should be able to properly view any text written in Bangla. If your phone doesn’t have Bangla font installed as writing language, you can still write Bangla on web using the phone.

For writing Bangla text

To write Bangla text, your mobile phone needs to have Opera mini 5 or higher. If you have it, go to Google.com or WriteBangla.com. (For Google, press Bangla tab) Now, transliterate (write the pronunciation of Bangla words in English) bangle words in English in the box below the tab. This is the Unicode version of the Bangla text. Just copy what you wrote and place it where you want to post it. You can use Bangla text like this for sending emails, commenting on friends’ wall on social networking sites or any other place on web.

How to read and write Bangla text on Computer

Viewing Bangla font on computer is easier. You don’t need to have specific web browser to read or write Bangla text on web. You only need a Unicode Bangla font installed in your computer. SolaimanLipi is a standard Unicode Bangla font. Download it from here or write click on your mouse and click ‘save link as’ to download this font.

To install a font on computer, just copy the font and paste it in ‘Fonts’ folder, generally found in C://windows/Fonts. The font will be installed.
